Leak testing

Undetected leaks in production facilities can lead to significant environmental and safety problems. The result: loss of production, quality and efficiency.

Procedure

  • Tracer gas testing (helium, hydrogen): Test parts are filled with test medium under overpressure and “sniffed” to localize leaks.
  • Pressure differential measurement: Determination of the leak rate by measuring the pressure loss, taking the temperature into account - suitable for everything from simple containers to complex systems.
  • Bubble test: Fast and cost-effective method in which test specimens are checked for leaks under water using compressed air.
  • Pressure and burst tests: Testing of component strength against gases and liquids, detection of failure points under load.

Your advantages

  • Minimization of health and environmental risks
  • Increased reliability and performance of your systems
  • Performance of all procedures in a modern laboratory or mobile on site

Eddy current testing

Eddy current testing enables the fast, contactless and reproducible detection of cracks, corrosion and material inclusions - both in non-ferromagnetic metals and, with special probes, in steel components such as heat exchangers or weld seams in power plants.

The process

  • Flaw detection: cracks and inhomogeneities are reliably detected by altered eddy current curves.
  • Coating thickness measurement: Determination of non-conductive coatings via the lift-off effect - quickly and precisely.
  • Structural condition & conductivity: Analysis of the heat treatment condition and possible structural changes.

Your advantages

  • Fast, mobile and non-destructive - even for hard-to-reach areas
  • No consumables - environmentally friendly and efficient
  • Individually customizable - tailored test scenarios, in-situ solutions and technical support directly on site

Dye penetrant testing

Dye penetrant testing is one of the oldest, but still proven methods of non-destructive testing. It makes fine cracks visible that are open to the surface - e.g. in castings, forgings or weld seams - which often remain hidden to the naked eye.

This is how it works:

A colored test liquid penetrates open surface defects by capillary action. After removing the penetrate, a developer is applied which draws the liquid back to the surface, making the finest cracks or pores visible and measurable.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Versatile - can be used for almost all materials, shapes and sizes
  • High sensitivity - even the smallest defects are reliably detected
  • Efficient and standard-compliant - series testing in our penetrant facility in Büren
  • Flexible and mobile - can also be carried out directly on your premises

Magnetic particle testing

Magnetic particle testing is an established non-destructive testing method for detecting near-surface cracks and defects in ferromagnetic materials such as weld seams, castings and forgings. These defects are often invisible to the naked eye.

Method:

  • Magnetic flux density changes at defects produce visible indications (“magnetic beads”), which are displayed by a test medium. The length is measured, not the depth of the indication.

Advantages

  • The method is fast, cost-efficient and can be used in both stationary and mobile applications - ideal for series testing and system inspections in all industrial sectors.

Ultrasonic test

Ultrasonic testing is an acoustic testing method for detecting defects in materials such as metals, sheet metal or weld seams - also possible in an installed state, e.g. in the aerospace industry.

Sound waves penetrate the component and are reflected at defects such as cracks, cavities or inclusions. The resulting signals are visualized as an image. This allows the type, position and extent of defects to be precisely determined.

Typical areas of application for ultrasonic testing:

  • Weld seam inspection
  • Wall thickness measurement
  • Sheet metal inspection
  • Forging inspection

Your advantages

  • Mobile and flexible
  • Can be automated
  • Reliable and reproducible

Digital radiographic testing

Digital radiographic testing is an imaging method for non-destructive material testing. X-rays or gamma rays are used to visualize density differences in the material. Denser areas allow less radiation to pass through and appear brighter on the screen.

Areas of application for digital radiographic testing

  • Crack testing in concealed or multi-layer components
  • Testing cast and CFRP components for blowholes and cavities
  • Inspection of weld seams and soldered joints
  • Detection of foreign bodies in the material
  • Material analysis and density control

Advantages in material testing

  • Concealed parts can be inspected, not just surface methods
  • Defect shape and size visible
  • No direct access to the inspection area required
  • Detects voluminous defects such as pores, inclusions, hot cracks
  • Versatile and universal inspection method
  • Imaging
  • Live image for direct evaluation

Visual inspection

Visual inspection is a proven method of non-destructive testing (NDT) that provides early indications of damage or wear. Our certified inspectors reliably detect surface defects such as cracks, corrosion, pitting or material discoloration, which can impair the safety and function of your systems.

The procedure

  • Assessment of castings, boreholes, pressure vessels, aircraft engines, pipelines, motors and heat exchangers
  • Use of the latest technology: videoscopes, borescopes, cameras and magnifying glasses
  • Carried out in accordance with recognized specifications and NDT guidelines

Why you should choose us:

  • Level II qualification of all our inspectors
  • Short response times and worldwide operational readiness
  • Documented results for your quality assurance and proof to customers or authorities.
